i.e., what types of search results they are most likely to come across when they type those words into a given query field such as “travel blogs” or “cheap flights” etc.
In practice it means looking at your site and noting all the phrases (words) which appear on every page, in every post, on every dropdown menu etc., that appear anywhere on your site – especially in your header which houses important keywords (i.e., your product/service name) .
The more time-consuming part of this – particularly if your product isn’t very popular yet – is finding out from those searches what people really mean when they type those exact same words into their query fields (wherever).
For example, say for some reason I wanted to find out information about travel blogs so I could then go back and write my own blog posts based on them, I would first want to examine what people specifically meant by these phrases (i.e., where did they get them from?). Most people ask: “What’s the key?” The answer is, it depends on your audience.
If you’re a product manager trying to sell to early adopters of your product and if you don’t really want to scare off potential customers who come in and want to learn more, then you probably want to start with one or two keywords (maybe even just one or two).

• We can also see how much time different types of traffic take; for example, YouTube viewers take longer than Facebook visitors.
• Finally, we can see their engagement levels – does it drop off over time? In any case, we are generally able to get some pretty good data from Google Analytics (though sometimes there will be some issues with accuracy).
• A simpler way would be looking at keywords that appear on our own sites instead of being shown via Google Analytics. For example:
This looks pretty useful right now… actually I could make a pretty convincing argument that this would be far more useful than tracking keyword clicks through Google Analytics (it doesn’t offer much detail at all).
However, I wouldn’t advise using this method unless you have a very good idea what type of traffic your content attracts
